When I started Keto in January, I was looking for a way to lose weight and feel better in my body. What I didn’t expect was how much it would impact my mental wellness, ADHD, and overall health—especially when it comes to managing my PCOS.

It hasn’t been a perfect journey. I’ve waffled back and forth (Keto pun intended), but every time I get back on track, I’m reminded why I started. Keto isn’t just about weight loss for me—it’s about self-care, mental clarity, and finally taking control of my health in a way that feels sustainable.
Why Keto?
Like so many women with PCOS, I’ve struggled with blood sugar spikes, cravings, and hormone imbalances for years. Add ADHD into the mix, and you’ve got a recipe for energy crashes, brain fog, and an ongoing battle with focus and motivation.
I needed a way to fuel my body that actually worked for me. Keto stood out because it helps regulate blood sugar, reduces inflammation, and provides a steady energy source—without the sugar highs and crashes that made my ADHD symptoms feel even worse.
Keto & Mental Wellness
One of the most surprising benefits of Keto has been the mental clarity it’s given me. When I’m consistently in ketosis, I feel sharp—less scattered, more productive, and more in control of my emotions. The brain fog that used to drag me down? Gone. The constant cycle of needing caffeine and sugar to keep going? Also gone.
For someone with ADHD, this has been a game-changer. Instead of feeling like my brain is running in ten different directions at once, I can focus on tasks without needing to force myself into hyperfocus mode. It’s like my mind finally has the fuel it actually needs.
Regulating My Blood Sugar & PCOS
PCOS has made weight loss and hormonal balance an uphill battle, but Keto has helped me in ways I didn’t expect. By keeping my blood sugar stable, I’ve noticed:
✔️ Fewer cravings – I’m not constantly battling the urge to snack on carbs and sugar.
✔️ More consistent energy – No more mid-afternoon crashes or feeling like I need a nap after every meal.
✔️ Improved hormone balance – My cycles are more predictable, and my body finally feels like it’s working with me instead of against me.
PCOS can make weight loss feel impossible, but shifting my focus to overall wellness instead of just the scale has helped me stay consistent. It’s about more than just numbers—it’s about feeling good in my body again.
My Go-To Keto Convenience Foods
Let’s be real—life gets busy, and meal prepping isn’t always an option. I’ve found a few Keto-friendly convenience foods that help me stay on track without feeling deprived:
🥓 Sargento Cheese Sticks – The perfect grab-and-go snack with protein and healthy fats.
🍪 Duncan Hines Keto Baking Mixes – Because sometimes, you just need a sweet treat without the carb guilt.
🥤 Alani Nutrition Protein Shakes (Cookies & Cream) – A lifesaver for busy mornings when I need something quick but filling.
⚡ Alani Nutrition Energy Drinks & Pre-Workout – Because let’s be honest, sometimes caffeine is necessary, and these keep me energized without the sugar crash.
Having these on hand makes it so much easier to stick with Keto, even when life gets chaotic.
The Ups, Downs & Giving Myself Grace
Has this journey been perfect? Absolutely not. There have been days where I’ve fallen off track, given in to cravings, or just felt over it. But instead of seeing those moments as failures, I’ve started seeing them as lessons.
The biggest shift in my mindset? I’m not punishing myself with dieting anymore. I’m choosing foods that make me feel good, keep me energized, and help me show up as my best self. Keto isn’t just a diet—it’s part of my self-care routine.
What’s Next?
I’m not setting unrealistic expectations, but I am committed to continuing this journey with self-love at the center. That means:
✨ Sticking with foods that nourish my body and mind.
✨ Celebrating non-scale victories, like better focus and balanced energy.
✨ Giving myself grace when life happens and getting back on track without guilt.
Keto has given me so much more than weight loss—it’s helped me take control of my mental and physical health in ways I never thought possible.
If you’ve been struggling with ADHD, PCOS, or just feeling off in your body, know that you’re not alone. I’ll be sharing more about my experiences, favorite Keto meals, and lessons learned along the way.
Here’s to health, happiness, and finally feeling good in our own skin. 💕
